Appointed to the court by Ronald Reagan in 1986, Scalia was an associate judge of the Supreme Court. He was a Roman Catholic.
Scalia drove long distances to parishes that he felt were more in accord with his beliefs, such as the Tridentine Latin Mass in both Chicago and Washington[138] and also the Latin version[139] of the Mass of Paul VI at St. Catherine of Siena in Great Falls, Virginia.
